Show Nordenskjold Another Race. New York, 8. Speaking of Nor-denekjold's Nor-denekjold's feat, tho Tribune aays the practical value of this northeast passage pas-sage has yet to be determined. It will at all events be greater than that of the northeast passage, for which Sir Robert McClure was knighted and received a roward of 25,00U. A letter from one of Nordeuskjold's assistants gives an interesting account of the Tsbudi, a peculiar race inhabiting in-habiting the northeastern part of Siberia. They look very much like Greenlandera, are email but alert, have a brownish-yellow skin with coal blaok eyes and hair, and a singular singu-lar joyless "volffost fraeen" expression expres-sion of face. They live, in teats, dress in skins and feed on seal fiesb; the women ate tatooed in the" face. A dictionary haa been made of the languag'e compT-isinR about 3U0 words, and will do doubt prove of interest to linguists, as the tongues of the polar race have hitherto been as great n puzzle to philologists aa those of negroes of tropical Africa. |
