Some 261,000 taxpayers In Utah who were due refunds re-funds totaling nearly $188 million last year, didn't file until after March 1. They then had to wait eight to ten weeks for their refund. Few received It until the end of May, and some into June. Of course not everyone who has a refund coming can file In January, but the IRS does urge everyone to file as early as possible. A better idea might be for taxpayers to adjust their tax withholding. If done just right they should end the year not owing the government gov-ernment additional tax, nor with the government owing them. This year the Ogden IRS center expects to receive 10.3 million tax returns. It also estimates that 83 will have refunds due and that 60 will again wait until un-til after March 1 to file.
