Manti began the season slowly with four quick losses. They turned around and won their first region game against pre-seas- Millard and for the next three weeks slowly climbed to a second place tie in Region 12, after huge victories against 2 ranked Grantsville and Juab. But a turn around loss to Millard last Wednesday began their slide back down to 4th place. On Tuesday, April 29, Manti faced the number-tw- o ranked Juab r finals 2-- A Saturday, May 3, Manti stumbled again as they dropped both games of a doubleheader against the Morgan Trojans at home. There are now several factors involved to get us to state, said Coach Mark Olson after the game on Saturday. One of those factors is that Juab loses both games of a doubleheader to South Summit, and they still play Millard in a doubleheader and finish their last game against us, here at home. Coach Olson further commented that We have done this with a young team consisting of only one senior and one returning starter from last years team, Brow n. And on top of that Marc we tr lost senior Coi v I latch and sophomore Nolan Crouch to injuries and possiblv hae lost Marc Brown as well to a knee injury last Saturday. Manti has two regular season games left. On Tuesday, May 6, they travel to Gunnison and on rriday,May9.the will host Juab, which could very well be the deciding game for the fourth and final spot into the state tournament. The first round of the state plajoffs will begin on Thursday, May 5, location to be announced with the second and final rounds being placed at BYU on Monday, May 19 and Friday May 23 1 ha e - The Box Score - MHS golf team The Manti High School golf team has been activ e this ear and hav e improv ed greatly, according to their coach Bob Jensen.
