Show CHAS HELQUIST LAID TO REST FRIDAY funeral services were held in the ward chapel friday january at 2 p ro for charles helquist who died in the moab hospital on the bishop H D bayles presided the speakers were james F carroll pres W H 11 redd and albert R lyman all spoke of the sterling qualities of the deceased in music its 1 wait wa furnished by the choir a and nd J ernest adams sang 0 love D divine ivi bell and a I 1 ladies a di s trio sang I 1 know that my redeemer lives 1 funeral services service were concluded at the city cement ry the pall bearers were his 0 sons O us kenneth john ernest A and lynn and two sons in law Mil druff young and paul black charles helquist was born november 29 1871 in bugla sweden his parents matta anderson and olaf P helquist joined the latter day saint church about the time he was born choosing between their religion and their friends and relatives from that time on refused to recognize them when charles was three years year old his parents with their four sons and three daughters came to america coming directly to utah and settling at richfield Richtie ld on march 30 1893 he married miss lillian hatch of koosharem Koo sharem utah in 1899 he moved to old mexico where her believed he be lived until 1912 when on oil account of the trouble with the mexicans them the were compelled to leave home and property and an d start over again ag am after leaving mexico the halquist family lived in koosharem Koo Koos sharem barem until december 1914 when they came to Dl anding where they have resided ever since although C harles charles was quiet and retiring by nature b he e won the love and respect of all who knew him it was a common saying among his associates that tha charles a od he remained true tru e to the religion that his parents had sacrificed so much tor for he was injured november while working on the state road and while the injury seemed slight slig bl he grew worse until he was taken to the moab hospital december 12 t h and on january it became necessary to amputate his leg just below the knee about a week laer iner another amputation became necessary Y charles helquist is survived by his hi wife and ten children and twenty grandchildren his children are mi rs a ada stowell of rigby idaho I 1 mrs rs fay mosely phoenix ariz mrs mil int ini young mrs mae black mrs marba palmer and melba of Bi blanding anding kenneth henneth and john of monticello E ernes nel A lynn of blanding utah and two sisters mrs hannah brown of 0 f provo prove and mrs emma w of aurora both of his sisters were biti him at the time of his death |
