Washington, Feb. 25, No demand has been made by tho Gorman government govern-ment for the removal by the United States of Chief Justlco Chambers of Samoa, nor Is It true that cither tho United States or the Ilrltlsh government govern-ment has demanded tho relief of tho president of the municipal council, Dr. RafTcl, and tho German consul at Apia, Mr. Hose. Tho acts of these ofllclals havo been the subject of criticism, nnd It has gono to tho point that a suggestion has been made from each of tho two sides into which tho Issue has divided tho tripartite powers that tho most satisfactory and quickest way to restore re-store harmonious relations and assure a peaceable administration in Samoa, would bo to withdraw oil of theso ofllclals ofll-clals and to wlpo out all old scores. At the same time thrie havo been no do-mandsmadc do-mandsmadc on either side; nothing but intimations and suggestions.
