Six storage dams have been five in the mountains built and the sixth, Willard Dam, on a fresh-wate- r bay of the Great Salt Lake, which catches and saves winter and spring flows of the Weber and Ogden rivers. The mountain dams include Wanship, the enlarged Pineview Dam on the Ogden River, a new and larger East Canyon Dam, Lost Creek Dam on a main tributary of the Weber River; ard Causey Dam on the South Fork of the Ogden River. Water in the Willard Canal which connects the Slaterville Diversion Dam on the Weber River to the Willard Reservoir can flow in either direction. In the winter and spring it carries water from the Slaterville Dam to the reservoir by gravity. During the summer, water i" pumped back from the reservoir to the dam where it is diverted for irrigation use on nearby farms. Project supply of water is sufficient now to provide for the needs of the area for the next 20 pears, project officials feel that all of the water presently available will be fully subscribed for by 1990. To date, under firm contracts, 27,257 acre feet pf treated municipal and industrial water has been sold to 29 entities, in addition to approximately 81,295 acre feet of irrigation water to 48 irrigation companies and about 3,000 individual users.
