He is the hero of one segment of The Bold Ones, a new NBC series that deals with doctors, lawyers and law enforcement officers. The three parts are unrelated at present. I still have a year to go on my contract, he tells interviewers. Before now, I couldn't stand the scripts. He was called the bad boy" of Universal Pictures before he decided to settle down for the final year of his contract. A year or so ago, he had appeared In the pilot (sample) film of Winchester, which was to be a series, but then decided he didnt want to star in m the series. Im not sure how many times Ive been suspended, he says, but I do know that it adds up to a year without pay. Farentino feels he is in "the best spot in his career. If the series hits, he points out, we could go into a second season. If this happens, I will be in the drivers seat and a free agent and the studio will have to come to me, Anyway, well do only eight shews in my particular segment and eight in each of the others, so this leaves plenty of time for movies." He will be seen in a movie about the time The Bold Ones begins. Its titled Me, Natalie," and will open James Farentino appears soon at the Centre or Penthouse. Farentino stars with in new TV series. Patty Duke, and advance word is that they make a fine couple in a good picture. I want more feature movies," Farentino says. . Farentino has been seen in such films as The Pad, The Ride to Hangmans Tree and Banning. "Rosie, The reason he has made trouble while he has been under contract to Universal Pictures is that the studio controls performers who have contracts. Asked why he would sign a contract in the first place, he But Katherine says, "You have to do that to get started Ross is a perfect example of how a studio misuses a contract player. After her success in The Graduate, for which she was loaned to a different studio, the studio profited by putting her in a television segment of The Name of the Game and then forcing her to do Hellfighters with John Wayne. That wasnt the spot for her. "Rock Hudson was at this same studio for 21 years and to other the only good movies he made were on loan-out- s studios. Despite Farentinos complaints about television, the medium has treated him well. He has been in Naked City and daytime serials as well as The Virginian, The FBI, The Fugitive, Laredo, Route 66, Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Ben Casey and Twelve OClock High. ...
