Clyde and Co. firm of Springville. Thirty five year steel industry veteran, W. W, (Bill) Wilkins, a one time resident of Springville and 20 other employees of Atlantic City Ore Mine near Leander, Wyo., were honored Tuesday for long continuqus service with United States Steel Corp. Mayor Paul M. Haymond administered the oath of office to new city councilmen, Murray D. Peay, re-elected, Floyd Stewart, elected, and Frank Memory, re-elected. AH will serve four year terms of office. Typical January weather, snow, ice, slick roads and walks, cold winds, a bit of fog and near-zero near-zero weather have all been offered of-fered the first nine days of the year. The first storms of the year, however, have deposited a few inches of snow in the valley, while more is reported in the canyons. Ploughs were called to Hobble Creek early in the week to clear snow-drifted roads. Ronald W. Todhunter, has been called to serve in the North Western States LDS Mission, representing the third ward. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Todhunter. He enters the mission home Monday. In his honor a farewell testimonial is announced for Sunday at 6:45 p.m. in the Third Ward. Honoring Fred Taylor, who had been called to serve a mission in the Central British Mission field, a farewell meeting will be held in the 12th Ward Sunday, beginning at 5 p.m. Fred is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hal T. Taylor and is a graduate of the high school and seminary here. Barry A. Weight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight, will be welcomed home from his two-year two-year mission by the Sixth Ward at Sunday evening services, January 12, at 5 p.m. Barry served in the Gulf States Mission. Mrs. Laura Williams of Raymond, Idaho, spent several days with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Parry Harrison of Mapleton. Stephen J. Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace W. Clark, has recently completed requirements for a masters degree in electrical engineering, in the 5th such degree to be given at BYU. He and his wife, Roberta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Booth of Springville and their small son, Brian, have moved to Phoenix, Ariz, where he will be affiliated with Motorola. Making a home in Springville are the new Mr. and Mrs. Jerry D. Adams, who' were married December 19 in the Salt Lake Temple and honored the same evening at a reception in the First and Twelfth Ward Church. The bride is the former Miss Carol Pehrson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Pehrson of Ogden. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arvel B. Adams of Springville. Mr. and Mrs. Oram Hansen returned home Saturday from a vacation trip to California. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Feeley and daughter, Ricka, of Pittsburg, Pitt-sburg, Pa. have returned home after spending the holidays here, the guests of Mr. Feeley's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sibbard Reid and his mother, Mrs. Mrs. Maud Stifel, at the Reid home. The Feeley's made the trip by plane. es 20 Years Ago Glen A. Tipton, retiring Kiwanis president congratulated the incoming president, Glen W. Sumsion. Board members are Clarence L. Jensen, Berton Groesbeck, Perry Goodliffe, Maurice Bird, Merle Sargent, Finley Roylance, Reese Anderson, An-derson, Verl Whiting and Erwin Sheffield. Stanley C. Sumsion, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sumsion, has accepted a call to serve in the East Central States LDS mission. He will leave for the mission home January 20. A farewell testimonial planned in his honor Sunday evening in the Second- Eighth Ward Chapel at 5:45 p.m. Judging candidates for the winner of the annual DSA award will be completed this week and the anticipated announcement of the outstanding young man of Springville for the past year will be made at the DSA banquet next Wednesday evening, January 20. Reservations must be made by January 16 with Bud Done, Bill Averett, Kent Palfreyman or Marcus Johnson, committeemen in charge of the affair. Mr. and Mrs. Norbell Binks of Payson gave a dinner Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Blair Binks of Salt Lake City. Other family members present were Mr. and Mrs. Norris Binks and Mr. and Mrs. Glade Binks. The Mapleton PTA met Monday with president Leonard Harris in charge. Mack Cunningham Cun-ningham of the training division of Geneva Steel was the guest speaker. Members completing the first aid course were Leonard Cunningham, Cun-ningham, Blaine Williams, Janet Carnesecca, Rose Bona, Ruel Jensen, Stella Clements, Reva White, Bob White, Delna Cazier, Clyde B. Cazier, Norma Johnson, Florence Stone, Murial Diamond and Mrs. A. B. Williams. SMS Club members will meet next Thursday evening in the home of Mrs. Grace Harmer in Mapleton. Prizes for the card games were won by Mrs. Zora Hales, Mrs. Aileen Weight and Mrs. Ruth Shurtleff. Special guests were Mrs. Maurine Childs and Mrs. Gertrude Ger-trude Smith. Blair Binks is introducing his new bride to his relatives and friends since New Year's Day. The new Mrs. Binks is the former for-mer Connie Parkinson, charming char-ming daughter of Mrs. Kathleen Parkinson of Salt Lake City and Blair is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norris T. Binks of Mapleton. They were married on January 1 in Ely, Nevada. Mrs. Jane Norton was named president of the LaJolli Femme Club at the home of Mrs. June Haymond on Wednesday evening of last week. Mrs. Jeannie Boyer is new vice-president and Mrs. Helen Holley, secretary. Present were Mrs. Betty Packard, Mrs. Gloria Murdock, Mrs. Elaine Child, Mrs. Glenna Bird, Mrs. LaRue Hopkins, Mrs. Diane Newton, Mrs. Jean Sumsion, Mrs. Carma Frandsen, Mrs. Norton Holley and Mrs. Boyer and the hostess. Bill Ruff, Lewis Bird, Floyd Whitehead, Ed Johnson and Clarence Smith were in Salt Lake City Sunday evening at the Round Robin tournament at the K-B Alleys. James Sumsion, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M.
