Show Symposium Operas! Three communications experts ex-perts a broadcast researcher, a persuasion statistician, and a sociologist will open a series of. three communications symposiums sym-posiums Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Business Building. The one and one-half hour symposium is free and open to all interested persons in tech-ncial tech-ncial ad non-technical fields dealing with information communication. com-munication. Intermountain 'First' Participating in this Inter mountain Area "first" will be Dr. Wallace C. Fotheringham, visiting professor of speech from Ohio State University; Dr. Samuel Becker, director of the communications research laboratory labor-atory at the University of Iowa; and Dr. Ray Canning, University Univers-ity sociology professor. "For years," Fotheringham said, "we have been teaching speech skills, perhaps overlooking overlook-ing some of the more basic theory of how and why we can and cannot communicate with each other. There are more people creating and distributing information than ever " before and our technological advances have far outstripped our understanding under-standing of the communication process." |
