A second treat on the "Gala I" program will be the production produc-tion of a new work by Christen-sen Christen-sen entitled "Romantica". Featuring Fea-turing six of the top members of the Utah Civic Ballet Co., it is a classic ballet done to music by Dvorak. In addition to "Stars and Stripes" and "Romantica", the "Gala I" program will include the hauntingly beautiful "Serenade" "Seren-ade" which was choreographed by George Ballenchine, as well as "Les Bijoux du Mai" and "Con Amore". "The five ballets, a must see for all ballet lovers, will offer some of the finest ballet ever presented in Salt Lake City," Christensen said. 'Giselle' Premiere The second week of the spring season "Galla II" will see the intermountain premiere of the great classic ballet of this or any ear, "Giselle." Melissa Hayden and Jacques D'AmboIse will be presented in the leading roles. Sets and costumes have been designed especially for "Giselle" by Rona'd Crcsby who worked with Arnold Freeburg on the Cecil De Mille production of "The Ten Commandments." The costumes were executied by Ruth Price. Staged by Dimitri Romanoff, the ballet is a simple liltingly beautiful story with music by Adolphe Adam. Ardean Watts will be the conductor and the orchestra will be composed of members of the Utah Symphony. All performances for both weeks will be in Kingsbury Hall. Curtain will be at 8 p.m. |
