Show DEATH THE VALLEY HE OF THE SEVIER three pioneer women this week join the silent hosts in the great beyond there died at the home of her son walter I 1 mcdonough in circleville Cir cleville plute county on friday november 8 one of the oldest women in pluto county mary ann mcdonough a faithful member of the L D S church and an active worker in the cause of christianity passed away at the ripe old age of 95 years she was not an old resident of utah her former home having been in the east where whir e she had been connected with the church during many long years she lost her husband during the civil war and is survived by one son and one ne daughter also many grandchildren the funeral services were held on saturday dec 11 and were largely attended still another pioneer woman of sevier county was called by death tuesday of this week mrs lauretta staples one best known characters in sevier valley died at the home of her son bishop J I 1 staples in elsinore EIsin oro last tuesday she had long suffered with an incurable malady and become quite feeble she was born in ohio march 23 1840 coming to utah in 1850 for about twelve year sher home was in central where she endeared herself to many friends because of her quiet and unassuming ways and spirit later she became a resident of elsinore and had been a conspicuous figure in that town during a period of mor ethan 30 years mrs staples was a woman of worth and high character and her friends were almost leg legon legion on no woman in our neighboring town had such a rare faculty of making friends she will be missed by many old associates who are grieved because of her death at the time of her demise she was 76 years of age she reared a large family of children seven daughters and six sons all of whom have reached man hoods estate and who reside in various parts of the west and in canada it is not likely that all of them will bo be able to be present at the funeral announcement of which is yet to be made we hear that the services will be held in the beautiful chapel at elsinore today saturday but it is an unverified statement mrs emma caroline jensen a woman who had resided in richfield during the past thirty years died at her home on cast third north street last sunday evening at 6 the immediate cau cauze caubre ze of her demise being 33 brights rights disease from which she had long been a sufferer mrs airs jensen was a native of sweden born there in 1858 she had been a resident or of utah for more than SG KG years coming to this country with her parents when but an infant her husband died in this city many years ago surviving her are arc three daughters and tour four sons all but one of them living in this vicinity she was a woman 0 of strong personality one who drew a large circle of friends about her alfe sue was noted for charitableness and other traits of charac ter anil and was hold held in the highest esteem by all her neighbors the f funeral services were held in x the aird ward chapel wednesday after upon being largely attended the exorcizes exorcises were in ili charge of bishop james anderson and there were many consolatory eulo giuma made k A ly by the various local s speakers pe akers solemn and appropriate music marked tile the occasion tile the floral offerings were lavish and distinctively beautiful the remains were laid to rest reit in the ho city cemetery i |
