Burton, and one q the women pioneers' who crossed Ittpo plain's 1ft TS4S1, died at her' resfden.ee, Gil East Ninth South street, last night at 7 o'clock, from causes due to the weight of years. She was 74 years old and had been in ill health for the past two years or more. While in good health she was an active figure among prominent women workers in the Mormon church and was well loved by the many who mourn her loss. Mrs. Burton was born In Ohio July I 20, 1836, and at tho time of her death lacked five days of being 75 years old. She came to Utah with her parents, par-ents, William and Elizabeth McBrlde, in the summer of 1848. with the second sec-ond year's band of pioneers, who followed fol-lowed in the footsteps of those led by Brigham Young in 1847. In the year 1855 she married Robert T. Burton, Bur-ton, who died four years ago this coming November She was then but 19 years of age, but took a leading role in the part played by the sacrificing sacrific-ing women of early days. The period of her Illness practically dated from the time of Bishop Burton's Bur-ton's death At that time she was taken ill, but partially recovered. When the big Redman fire of three years ago took place near her former home she became nervously prostrated. prostrat-ed. She recovered partly at times, only to relapse again, and the grim reaper finally overcame her. Mrs. Burton was well loved by all who associated as-sociated with her or learned to know her. She was known as a woman of exceptional character and fortitude, having lived in strict harmony with the religious principles she had adopted. adopt-ed. Mrs. Burton is survived by four sons and a daughter, as follows: Wll-lard Wll-lard C. Burton of the Burton LumlV company, Hosea M Burton, George W Burton and Walter J. Burton, and Mrs. Robert A.
