A dedicating the plantings at the new North Park in were the words landscaping the barring unforeseen delays. These unforeseen delays" arc realities. The proper water heads for the water line to the hill above the could not be obtained in time for the installation, therefore, the dedication program had to be postponed. However, just as soon as the project is finished, the dedication will take Please be interested enough in this place. wonderful project to ask about the date of the (dedication and to make sure you and your family attend the program. It is one way of showing your interest in what is happening in OUR TOWN. We so will send vmi word through the schools, to ask your children about the date, since there is no possibility of getting the date in the Progress this week. 1 very much doubt if there is another town in Utah which has so many wonderful citizens. When you arc involved in the progress of your community, and work constantly for its improvement, you can appreciate how many of its citizens arc also trying to be members of The Fillmore Boosters Club". When the city first purchased the land for the new North Park, many of the citizens donated hours of their precious time getting the land cleared, the thistles eradicated, the ground leveled, and ready for planting'the grass. As I go over the scrap books with the pictures of the hundreds of workers doing special jobs, I silently thank each of you who have been so loyal to the development of this beautiful park. Our park has been one of the best advertisers for Fillmore. Wherever you go someone in the group will say something about having stopped at the lovely park in Fillmore just to rest an hour, or to eat their lunch at one of the park tables. Many of them tell how much the children enjoyed playing on the grass after having been in the car for hours. Hundreds of our own children play in the park and tube down the hill in winter. The development of the park has cost the citizens very little so far, as all of the plantings and many hours of labor have been freely donated by our public minded citizens. Thousands of dollars worth ol red cinders were donated by the Fillmore Products Company, owned and operated by Dexter, Evan B. Anderson, and Jerry Freeman, as well as many manhours and the use of expensive heavy equipment w hich prepares the crushed rock for its different uses. We are most grateful for men such as these w ho own and operate the Fillmore Products Company. The leaders of the many groups have been loyal all through the years in digging weeds from the hill and around those precious evergreen shrubs. It really takes all of us to help maintain the parks and public property owned by a city. We have to have a real interest in the many phases of life necessary to make a pleasant existanec for all of us since our daily lives can become very monotonous if we have no interests outside of our own homes and families. If the city officials had to hire all of the help needed to maintain the city property, our taxes would be so burdensome that we would groan night and day. The more each of us can do to help maintain a town, the less chance there is at w e will have to increase our taxes. e Amphi-Theatr- e Amphi-Theatr- lie-sur-e Stephanie weighed in at 7 lbs. and Stacy at 6 lb. 9'i oz. However, I do think will get a book of remembrance and write in all of the names have of past workers since I have pictures of most of the groups, oxen the small children, and some historian in the future, say fifty years from now, might use the hook to find something worthwhile about people w ho lived in Fillmore during this period of time. There are many who arc helping us, at present, and we will trv to mention them in the next weeks column, together with some remodeling, such as Fred and Beth Cahoon have done during the early spring months. 1 1 Mother and daughter lour A Hawaii i pii lei 1 Fosters lie M.iV'.oi I 1. lb.
