The proposal calls lor Fillmore Water Users Association. Inc., and Chalk Creek Irrigation Co. to join forces in construction of a transmission line from a diversion structure on Chalk Creek to a regulating pond a mile east of Fillmore. From there, separate distribution lines would carry association water into the city and company w atcr to lands it serv es north of tow n. Both groups would benefit in saving seepage losses estimated by the Soil Conservation Service to be as much as 50 per cent a year. This would make between 1,100 and t of additional water a .400 vear available for beneficial use. Cost of the project is estimated at 1 acre-fee- S770.000. The distri ution sy stem in Fillmore will wil d around city blocks to eliminate the need of acquiring more than 00 easements if the mains were installed through the of the blocks. The existing ccr irnfe ion canal would be used for the company pipeline, also to hold to a minimum the number of easements w hich would be required. Chalk Creek Bow varies from a spring high of 300 cubit feet per second (cfs) or less, the irrigation company gets 42 per cent and the remainder goes to supply the needs of lots within Fillmore city limits. The dual sponsors plan to put $152,000 into the project initially. The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service would grant $40,000, leaving $578,000 for financing by the State Board of Water Resources. That part of the project would be purchased from the Board perby the sponsors over a 24-ye- iod. Approval of the feasibility report now sends the project back to the division of Water Resources for de- tailed design while legal documents are being prepaicd by the sponsors before the Board takes another look at the proposal later to decide if it wants to commit money for the job. The Board also approved a feasibility report on a proposed $104,000 sprinkler irrigation system for the West Holden Irrigation Co. to boost from 300 to 480 acres the area it serves. The company Hood irrigates present acreage from a well it drilled with assistance from the Board in Under the plan being studied, another well would be drilled to produce half of the water right of the existing well and erve half of the project area. About 12.000 feet of pipeline would be installed. Initial investment of the irrigation company would be $27,000 and the Board would finance $82,000. The sponsor would purchase the Board's share of the project ithin 20 years. While detailed plans arc being prepared and before any money can be committed to the project, the company must get approval from the State Engineer to change the point of diversion and place of water use. transfer water rights to the Board and agree to purchase the project in accordance with contrac' terms, l0. vv Young Homemaker tour Ih" annual home tour sponsored by the ast Mill. ml Young Chapter will be held in Holden on May 21. and will begin at the Ho'den Ward ( hapel at 1:30 p m.
