Prep Football Season Opens Monday; League Starts Sept. 28 George Pehrson To Coach Red Devil Gridders; Schedule Of Games And Coaches For Region Three Listed With the coaching problem finally solved for the Red Devils, sport fans and prospective high school players will turn their attention atten-tion to the gridiron and the pigskin parade for the coming season with the opening of schools here Monday morning. Coaching the sport here this year, is George Pehrson, who ' comes from Driggs, Idaho, where he has been coaching the popular sport. He will fill the position left vacant by Art Gilbert, who left here to coach at Murray this fall. The Region Three football schedule will begin Sept. 28 and will continue through a seven-weeks' seven-weeks' run, closing Nov. 9, announces an-nounces regional chairman, Louis A. Bates. Nine schools will enter teams in the regional loop, the same number as last year, leaving only Tintic and Nephi out of the sport. Coaches for the nine schools who will handle the "worry and stow" end of the game are: Springville, George Pehrson; Pay-son, Pay-son, Don Fuller; Spanish Fork, Gus Black; Lehi, Dean Prior; American Fork, Leo Nelson; Pleasant Grove, Earl Giles; Lincoln, Lin-coln, Don Dixon; B. Y. High, Dave Crowton, and Provo, Max Warner.
