Show GIGANTIC AUCTION SALE taa by the th Bt It orean eorgan committee omaha cornali a neb no abnot nov 2 the interest ol of the united states government in the union pacific railroad terminated at 1113 1115 yesterday morning when nt at the foreclosure sale of the mortgage held by the united states the road was ivas purchased by the committee of ca castor storn n capitalists formed for its organization the full amount accruing to the united states from the sale cannot be given exactly but it is estimated to be it was impossible to determine the full amount at tile the time of sale for the reason that tho the monthly statement made by the secretary of 0 tho the treasury to the management of the union pacific on the first ot of every mouth month was not available and it was found necessary to estimate some items although it is admitted by both sides that the estimates are approximately correct the amount due the government is made up as follows principal of debt 0 interest paid by the government up to september 30 1897 interest accrued by september 30 and still unpaid interest ace accrued rued in october total due the government ern ment against this are the following credits cash and bonds in sinking fund estimated credits for the quarter ending september 30 and for the month of october including government earnings and the in terest dorest on bonds in the sinking fund amount not yet credited total credit total debt of the railroad to the government GI total credit of railroad with government I 1 balance and amount bid by reorganization organization re committee the sinking fund bonds sold for total bids by reorganization committee the amount earned by the road during tho the quarter ended september 30 and during the month of october Is estimated but is practically correct and is as tho the government will simply retain the cash crediting the amount on tho the bids of the committee the amount to be turned over as a 2 consequence of vic the sales is 4 after the sale was concluded C E R cowin tile the representative of tile the government ern ment was assured by the committee that if tho the amounts not accurately figured should differ from the figures given above whatever may be lacking will be paid by the committee and will in no way be allowed to interfere with the confirmation of the sale there was no opposition to the committee antl and no bids were offered theirs |
