Show DIOCESAN NOTES. One of the most enjoyable affairs this week was the picnic given last Thursday Thurs-day evening by a number of the young friends of Miss Young and Miss Har-rah. Har-rah. The young ladies leave Sunday for the east to attend school the com ing term. Miss Young going to St. Paul to the convent of the Visitation and Miss Harrah to Boston. All the various amusements peculiar to picnics pic-nics were indulged in and the whole crowd report an excellent time. The young ladies preceded the gentlemen to the park and had a delicious supper in waiting wrhen they arrived. The following fol-lowing persons made up the party: Misses Edith Harrah, Mamie Young, Rose Bartos, Emma Bartos, Tenny , Morris, Myra Clark, Delia Robbins, Stella Robbins and Stella Curtis. Messrs. Mes-srs. C. Charles, C. Garlow, Reed, A. Klei, F. Yeager, A. Yeager, D. Wilson and A. Hoiter. Mr. Thomas Cruse of Helena remem-! remem-! bers the orphans in a substantial manner. man-ner. The Sisters and children of St. Josephs' Orphans Home tender their most sincere pthanks to Mr. Cruse for hi3 kind donation of one ton of flour, which was received Friday morning. Rev. Fathers Blaere. English, Allaeys and Hopper celebrated Holy Mass at the Home Friday morning. Dr. and Mrs. Knowles and Mrs. Cal-derhead Cal-derhead were members of a party who just returned from the National Park. They described the trip very minutely and think the scenery far surpasses the famous Alps of Switzerland. They expect to make the trip again next year, taking more time to it. Mrs. Flinn of Cascade accompanied her three children as far as Helena on their way to attend school at St. Paul, Minn. Mr. John Dawson, a valued employee of Case, Gravelle & Irvin company, Butte, spent several days in Boulder last week, during a short vacation period. pe-riod. Miss Jennie Smith of Boulder spent several days in Helena the past week. Miss Smith has lived in Helena a great part of her life and has many friends who are glad to see her. St. Aloysius school opened Tuesday with quite a large number in attendance. attend-ance. The pupils have been returning to St. Vincent , academy, the past two weeks and many new faces are among the number enrolled. - The Young Ladies' Sodality and the Sodality of the Holy Angels received Holy Communion in a body last Sunday Sun-day at 8 o'clock mass. The congregation appreciated the music and singing by the Junior choir at the 8 o'clock Sunday, more especially the hymns sung during Communion. .The choir singing was well rendered and it is gladly welcomed back after the short intermission of vacation. |
