Show WASHINGTON SCHOOL MOTES- (By Fontella Ferre) The teachers are again at work in the various grades, after having greatly enjoyed the state convention at Salt Lake. A beautiful piece of statuary in the form of a marbloid bust of George Washington, can now be seen in the lower hall of our building. The bust is fitted on a six foot pedestal, paint-white, paint-white, which was presented to the ed school by the trustees. The bust is last year's memorial to the school, presented by the Jewel class and a number of the citizens of Gunnison. The donor's names may,.. be found written on the bust. The " eighth grade has the most perfect record in punctuality and attendance at-tendance for the tenth week of school Colds are prevalent in our sohool, but let us feel truly grateful that we are generally rated as being in a healthy condition. The first of a series of basketball games between teams from Ephraim, Manti, Gunnison, and Centertield will be played with the last two mentioned as principals in the Centertield Cen-tertield opera house Friday night. The Washington school is again in the field with a champion teain- The district teachers convened in their regular monthly meeting Thursday Thurs-day afternoon in the city hall, at. four o'clock. Excellent talks, discussions and musical numbers was the order of the program arranged. Miss Mary By water has under way a pantomime which will be presented with the Christmas entertainment. Twenty-eight girls from the intermediate interme-diate grades have been selected to take parts. The school has a Christmas entertainment enter-tainment in course of preparation, which will be presented in the Casino theatre just previous to the closing of school for the holidays. |
