Show I Power Federation To Conduct Survey Surveys for water availability, coal deposits and other general work, will be started about the middle of June in southern Utah by Vern E. Alden. Chicago, who has been appointed engineer for the Southwest Utah Power Federation. Fed-eration. Mr. Alden. who has spent some time In southern Utah for the federation, is expected to arrive in Cedar City about June 15. The survey will begin shortly thereafter. there-after. The federation, which will furnish the power consists of Cedar City. Garkane. Dixie, Escalante Valley Electric and Utah-Arizona cooperatives. The federation's work is proceeding pro-ceeding on schedule according to Gronway R. Parry, president of ; the federation. He states that the Federal Securities Exchange Commission is expected to make a decision soon, which will advance ad-vance the federation's project. States. Fifty-seven firms are participating par-ticipating in the program. Prof. Schmutz is the only one selected from Utah. The Fellowship Fellow-ship includes expenses to and from Kansas City and costs of living while at the firm 'studying. 'study-ing. Mrs. Schmutz will accompany him and they plan to visit with friends in Ithica, New York, before be-fore returning in mid-August in preparation for the opening of school at the Branch Agricultural Agricultur-al college. |
