v it ’ : I U Nuru Ratchud (LU a Millar) trlas to explain the rules to Randle P McMurphy (Todd Olsen) (n the production of "One Flew Over the 8 5 Cuckoo's Neal" in hit daeaaaad wlfa Elvira (Lara Lanaa Fraabom) CharlM (Travor H Olwn) la astonlahad to ahow up aftar ha haa alraady marriad hla aaoond wlfa min limn March 7 at 8 pm deceased first wife Elvira (Lara The play centers around an author by the name of Charles Condominc (played by Trevor H Olsen) Condominc is writing his next novel about a homicidal medium so to research the subject he and his wife Ruth (Avan Thayn) plan a dinner party that they invite Dr Bradman (Krcg Asay) and his wife Violet Lanac Freeborn) As the play unfolds there are many plot twists and in the end Madame Arcati solicits the help of the Condomine’s maid Edith (Stephanie Blake) to try and remedy Charles of his “prob- lcms” It all makes for a very entertaining evening Broadway dances shown in theatre movement final by Trevor II Olsen entertainment editor Theatre movement a class designed to give students an opportunity to leant and experience the world of theatre dance will be presenting its finals March 8 in the Geary Theatre The performance will begin at 7:30 pjn and there is no charge for admission As a class students will be performing two dance numbers choreographed by instructor Carolyn Gwylhcr “Singin in the Rain" and “Masquarade” from the current Broadway smash “The Phantom of the Opera” In addition to these two production numbers students must choreograph a dance to music from a Broadway show of their choice for their final These finals will include selections from shows such as “Cats” “Chess" “Me and My Girl” “No No Nanette" 'Cabaret" and "Grease" The cast for the finals presentation includes Michael J High School Relations specialists Bill Painter and Brad King are sponsoring the Kcams production for public relations with Utah counselors and as a recruiting tooL Counselors from around the state arc being invited to the production Also all the students from the Salt Lake Valley that are interested in CEU arc being invited The Kearns High School theatre department and student government are selling tickets to the surrounding schools for die play Angotli Krcg Asay Gina Bcrtola Stephanie Blake Wendy Jo DcFriez Chelcne Fortier Laurel Gilbert Cindy Green and Todd Handy The cast also includes Rebecca Hess Shawndra Jensen Calvin Johnson Barbara Mahlercs Leslie Miller Chad AitherMortensen Lance Neilson Todd Olsen Trevor R Olsen Avan Thayn and Amber White Ballet and mime class set Bene Arnold from the University of Utah will be on the College of Eastern Utah campus February 27 to present workshops in ballet and mime for interested students Ms Arnold is the head of the graduate division at the U of U for ballet choreography and teaching She has received recognition for her performances in Ballet West's production of “Sleeping Beauty” in which she played the partofCarabossc She also has the responsibility of staging the annual Christmas production of “The Nutcracker” at the Capital Theatre in Salt Lake City At 11 am Ms Arnold will present a workshop on intermediate ballet for students 13 yean and older At 12:30 pm she will present a workshop and lecture on classic mime in dance open to all who are interested And at 1:13 pjn she will present a final workshop for IgVijF 12 concerning intermediate ballet All workshops will be held in the BDAC Dance Studio Interested individuals who are not members of Ballet Repertory Ensemble or the campus theatre department must pay a $3 fee to attend Men's Movement Carolyn Gwylhcr dance instructor at the College of Eastern Utah is planning to instruct a men's movement class for the spring The class will basically consist of stretching conditioning as well as basic technique Ms Gwylhcr says that men also need to be conscious of the space that their body fills and this class will help in that realization “The class is for men only and it will be designed for men who want to study basic dance techniques” she said The proposed schedule for the class is Monday and Wednesday at 200 It is entitled DNCE280 All men who are intatstcd in participating in the class should contact Ms Gwylhcr for scheduling |
