Barfuss and family and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Manke have gone to Yellowstone Park for a week. John - Tre-mo- nt Madsens. Mr. and Mrs. - there was only a store and a blacksmith shop in the town. He had taken a horse to be shod when he met Judge Capwell. The Judge told him that finally they were going to get a post office. Dad asked him what they were going to name the new town. The Judge said none had been and added "What suggested would you call it, Mr. Hoerr?" Dad answered, "Why not because it was Tremont, Illinois that I met and married my wife?" A few years later they had trouble with the mail, confusing Tremont and Fremont, so they added the "on" making it Tremonton. He moved to Utah in 1903 and mile built the house east of the old Salt Creek school house. He lived there 18 years then in 1919 he moved with his family to Peoria, Illinois. His wife, the former Marie Woerner, died in Peoria, March 3, 1924. In December, 1929, he married Pauline Kaeb and moved to Morton where he was living at guest of the A. Funeral services were held August 7 from the Morton Apostolic Christian Church. Burial was in the Morton cemetery." The following letter was received this week from Mrs. Caroline Moses of Gary, Indiana. She writes: Dear Sir I think thi would be of interest to your readers. My father died Sunday, August 4, 1946. It was my father, Jacob Hoerr, who named tbe town of Tremonton. As he told the story to me, Mrs. R. D. Anderson and David were at Salmon, Idaho, last Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Byington week.
