Show cement company building shows progress work has progressed on the new buildings of the ideal cement company at devils slide to the extent that ninny many of the plants operations are now being carried on in new structures and construction on the entire addition is scheduled to be completed within a short time the vast additions to the local plant have been designed to make it the most efficient cement manufacturing fac turing concern in the united states it is anticipated that in producing sacks of cement per day the new installation will bring total capacity of the plant to 14 wo sacks and will vill supplement the te already sizable output of present facilities cili ties which are capable of producing ISM sacks per day thus the new plant is indicative IV e of the confidence of executives 0 of f the company in the future growth and development of utah and the surrounding areas the new installation the most modern of its ils it s kind through more efficient and cheaper operations cration will permit the company to range further afield in the search for new business lower costs of production will enable the organization to deliver cement farther from shipping point at the same cost to the purchaser despite increased freight costs the new installation will operate from the same quarry as the present plant and is designed to cut expensive handling of materials to a minimum the limestone from the quarry is carried to a crushing mill where it is reduced to pellet size from there it is carried by a belt conveyor to the mills where it is ground to the consistency of flour this then is stored in bins according to the lime content and other physical properties and when needed is transported to any one of five 31 35 foot mixing and blending tanks where it is mixed to the desired chemical composition to fulfill any of hundreds of specifications cat ions the resulting slurry which is about the consistency of cream is then pumped into one of the three foot thickeners where giant paddles mix all the components the surplus water is then drawn off and the material is transported to one of the two 53 55 foot kiln feed tanks from here it is pumped into one of the two 10 foot by foot rotary kilns kalns the rotation and slight inclination of the cylinder cause the raw material to descend toward the lower end by the time the clinker has reached the end the various components have united to make cement the clinker is then cooled by passing through another revolving drum and thence to a grinding mill where it is ground to a consistency of dust this is then blown through tubes to the bag plant where here it is packaged the first car of cement was shipped in 1000 1006 the ideal cement company has plants at trident mont boettcher colo portland colo ada okla okay ark houston tex mobile e ala superior colo in addition to the plant at devils slide |
