Show 4 THE SOLONS IN SESSION Preparing to Cincli the Peddlers Over lOt Arrests In August Petition Etc The City Council convened as usual at the City Hall last evening A numerously signed petition headed by E F Parry was presented remonstrating remon-strating against u right of way for the nand n-and R G parallel with the Utah Nevada along South Temple street This was referred to the committee on streets and alleys A petition was presented from the Utah Central Railway asking permission to extend ex-tend their track to tho gas works Same committee Frank Armstrong apprised the Council that injury was being done him by people east of the mouth of City Canyon taking out water Irrigation committee A lengthy petition from the greengroc ers in relation to establishing markets for the sale of truck and abating peddling on the streets with reports from the market committee was presented and read Licenses were granted as follows To Z C M I as wholesale liquor dealers to the Albert Fisher Brewing Co as dealers in malt liquors j and to G S Erb Bernhard Stahl John Lollin Frank Smith B C Harvey VA Pitt S Levi berg Kentucky Liquor Co Barr Bour gard B F Whittemore Ewing l nlon McTierney Dinwoodey Tufts Ny strom Hill Trewhela A Gemill Williams Wil-liams Gerrans Auer Murphy and Oscar Youngberg as retail liquor dealers Alfred Gunn presented through his attorney at-torney a claim for 500 damages through 1 dugway having been made through his lot at the end of First South street Committee on Claims The Police Court report showed 100 cases tried during August nineteen were dismissed and fines amounting to 1330 imposed Committee on Police The Marshal reported the expenditures in his office for August at 72155 Same committee The Street Supervisor presented his report re-port showing the expenditures for the quarter to be 598850 Committee on Streets and Alleys The report of the water superintendent showed expenditures for the quarter to bo 158755 An increased water supply of 800000 gallons a day has been secured by the cleaning out of City Creek and opening open-ing now springs Water Works Committee Com-mittee The Poundkeepers report was presented pre-sented and referred to the Committee on Markets for inspection The following appropriations were made To Dog Tax Collector Williams for registering seventysix dogs in August 76 To the U CH R for thirteen axles and freight 8680 To W J Silver ver for eight wheels etc 2267 a The report of tho Street and Alleys Committee which was laid on the table last week was on motion recommitted to them Adjourned |
