Show Downtown Campus An assessment unit was opened on the downtown campus the third week in September Vocational Counselors are Kathy Nielsen and Davis Nielsen has a MA M.A. in rehabilitation and Davis has worked extensively in skill centers for nearly four years The new facility will provide students with a better awareness of their self-potential self in various employment areas Some of the stated careers to be explored are welding sign painting auto service mechanic sheet sheet- metal and plastics Financial aid programs are also explained and several types of tests given In the Career Awareness Lab students are given a chance to actually do a job to test their skills In welding a student can work a few hours under supervision with welding tools For sign painting a student would actually paint a sign In some cases a student finds the work does not hold his interest as he thought it would In others it enhances the desire to work in a selected area Kathleen Egelund Experienced Based Career Education Education Education tion Director makes good use of the Career Awareness Lab She works with students ages 16 to 21 who have no basic skills The Program is Federally funded At present there are three students on the Redwood Road Campus who were directed by the E B C E Program |
