That scouting report tells part of, but not the all. the Keith Hood story, an otherwise modest, restrained young man. Hood went through a frustrating season as a freshman last season. That was due primarily to a veteran set of guards, guards he played behind. Hes playing better now, was Dutch Belnaps summary of Hoods performance earlier this season. "Were expecting him to help both on the guard line and as a swing player this season. Keith is an ex- ceptional jumper and with his quickness and tenacity he could be one of our best defensive players." Hoods ability to play the game under control, a problem at times last year, could make him a very important factor in Utah States success season. in Logan prior to last season the coaches were cautious, as is the case with all first-yeplayers, to not expect too much during the i i 1978-7- When Hood 9 arrived ar too soon. the heydays of little Max 50s (late early 60s) has a pure Perry guard put together as fine an offensive season as Keith McDonald's junior year at USU. "Considering every phase of the game, he's the best big guard I've coached." said Dutch Belnap. "He drives to the hoop very well, yet because he can pull up and shoot from outside, he's really a double offensive threat. He can do a lot of things at the offensive threat.
