Show FIRST WARD AREA NEWS BRIEFS LEONA WORKS Mrs. Ray Western returned to Delta Saturday after spending ten days in Winnemucca, Nev. with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Munson and family. fa-mily. Mrs. Bus Shields and Karla of Salt Lake went by bus to Fillmore where they met Mr. Shields and then came to Delta to spend the weekend with Mrs. Lydia Evans. They visited with friends and relatives rela-tives before returning to Salt Lake where Karla is working at the Desert Des-ert Industries. Dwaine Jackson of CSU was home with his parents, the Selh Jacksons and brother Sheldon for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Crapo of Fillmore and Mrs. Grant Stevens of Holden spent Friday afternoon visiting vis-iting in Delta. Kay and Larry Odean were home for the weekend with their father Mr. V. S. Odean. Kay is doing her student teaching in Logan. Home at the Merrell residence for the weekend were Clifford and Lexiane Merrell, Robin Reid a niece from San Francisco and Ray Hutch-ingson Hutch-ingson of Heber City. These people are all going to school at the BYU in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Jensen and family fa-mily of Salt Lake spent the week end in Delta irrigating his farm and visiting with their mother, Mrs. Ruth Jensen and Elbert and Dan. Goty Neiderhouser spent t h a weekend in Logan with his parents and members of his family. Home for the weekend at tha Wallace Jeffery home were Carol Ann Jeffery and a friend John Mc-Kae Mc-Kae of Salinas, Calif, who is going to school, at the BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil James recently returned from a work mission in Australia, have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Snow and family. Mr. James went to Provo and Rock Springs, Wyo. to look after his business interests there. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Tom James and family and Mr. Cecil James came to Delta to visit for the after noon. Mrs. James is staying for a longer visit with the Snows. Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Jacobs we.'e Mr. and Mrs. John Sciarrino from Ogden. They had been to Calif, to attend funeral services for M". Sciarrino's sister. Mr. and Mrs. David Jacobs left Delta last Thursday to go to Fruita where they met the Jeep Wagon Train. They left their trailer camps and houses at the campgrounds in Fruita. Saturday morning about 100 people took their lunch and tra- I veled by jeep 68 miles off the high way to Cathedral Valley between Hanksville and Fruita. Thty went to Isinglass Mountain. It has raised up like a large bubble and is all isinglass. They returned Saturday night to their trailers and enjoyed steak supper, sat around the camp fire and sang songs. Mr. and Mrs. Deward Hopkins were in the group and the Jacobs enjoyed a visit with them. The Hopkins have gone with this group for the last five years. Sunday morning the group enjoyed a breakfast of hot cakes and all the trimmings and arrived home Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Snow were in Logan last Wednesday to attend funeral services for a cousin, There ssa Snow Hill. CARD OF THANKS il wish to thank all Delta area friends for their lovely cards and letters while I was in a Salt Lake hospital. Their daily arrival did much to cheer me up. The helicopter will have a vertical takeoff and landing capability and will be used for escorting troop-carrying helicopters. It will carry a variety of weapons to place discriminating and accurate fire on targets as required. This flying weapons platform is being considered under the Advanced Aerial Fire Support System program sponsored by the Army's Transportation Research Command, Com-mand, Fort Eustis, Virginia. Mis. Karen Hansen of Logan visited vi-sited her daughter and family, the Jay Bennetts. She came for her grandson Jerry and wife's open house that was held at the Sutherland Suther-land Ward Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Holmen made a trip to Salt Lake last week to check with Wallace's doctor. Mrs. Jerry Sheehy and children of Taylorsville visited Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson. Earl is home but still not feeling too well. Mac Clark visited grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Barney and Allen. Karen Roberts of Kearns visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brose Roberts. Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Steele from Don and Elma Frazier who are stationed in Chateauroux, France, that they wtre leaving April 20 by train for Paris, France where they would join Pres. Hart and his wife of the and Mrs. Lester Johnson. Amon Johnson spent Saturday at the Manti LDS Temple. We have had some more storm for which we are thankful. But some haven't got all their grain in which the storm is welcomed by somt and some wish it would hold off for a few more days. Nothing least of all the weather, can please everyone. April 30th will find them in Rome, Itlay and on May 1st they will De in Tripoli, Libya. They plan to be back to Paris May 4th. Apostle Mark E. Petersen and wife were supposed to accompany them but upon their arrival in Paris they found that word had been received that he would be unable to join them due to the illness of Mrs. Petersen. The Fraziers will be coming com-ing back to the U. S. in July when their assignment in France will have been completed. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Larson were in Spanish Fork one day last week to check with their doctor. Sutherland has had quite a moving mov-ing turn over lately. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Erickson, who we regret to lose very much, have moved to Delta; Mr. and Mrs. Ken Bishop have moved into their place. Mr. and Mrs. Merrell Johnson moved to where Ken and Venice have been living. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Johnson moved where Merrell and Carol had been living.
