Hepatitis A is a disease caused by a virus. This virus causes an inflammation of the liver and can make people very sick. The virus is found in the feces (bowel movements) of infected persons and is spread by the route. This means that when an infected person does not wash his or her hands carefully after havingabowel movement, any food or items he or she touches may be contaminated. Infected persons who don't wash their hands well before they prepare food can spread the disease very "oral-feca- l" first symptom of Hepatitis Aare usually fever, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, tiredness and weakness. These may be followed by urine, bowel movements, and skin and eyes. In general, how sick you are dark-colore- treatment. Most people recover completely after several weeks of no easily. Children may have a mild form ofthe disease with few or no symptoms, but most adults who develop Hepatitis A are sick enough to miss work. Infected people can spread the disease for about two weeks before they develop symptoms. That is why it is so important for everyone to wash their hands very carefully each time they use the toilet. If you think you have been exposed to Hepatitis A, or if you Utah Co. awarded emergency funds Utah County has been chosen to receive $68,631 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area. The selection was made by a national board that is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA consists of representatives from the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, USA National Council of Churches of Christ in the U.S.A., Council of Jewish Federations, and United Way of America. United Way of America will provide the administrative staff and function as fiscal agent. The board is charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-nee- d areas around the country. A local board determines how the funds awarded to Utah County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area. The local board is also responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program. Bessie Ellen Turner Chadwick, 66, died November 23, 1994 in American Fork. She was born December 7, 1927 in Lehi, to Utah, Fredrick Charles and Naomi Hannah Walker Turner. She cian and plumber. He had his own business and also worked for Utah Power & Light, the Utah State Training School and Geneva Steel. He enjoyed traveling, lapidary and ceramics. He is survived by his wife of Provo; a son, LaMont Allen, Pleasant Grove; 21 grandchildren; 29 a brother, Merrill Allen, American Fork; stepchildren: Gary Pierce, Salt Lake City; Patricia Jarvis, Tempe, Ariz.; Jennie Jones, Mapleton; foster daughters: Naomi Adams and Ilene Lopez. He waspreceded in death by a daughter, Miriam Shrewsbury. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Provo Canyon Ward, 4300 N. Canyon Road, Provo. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Chadwick age J married William N e w b e r n Chadwick April 19, 1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He died June 27, 1977. She was involved in the family business, Chadwick Coal, for many years. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She was also an activemember of the American Fork Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the American Fork Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting and especially making porcelain dolls. She is survived by her children, William Paul and Linda Chadwick, Battle Mountain, Nevada; Larry Fred and Claudia Chadwick, Pleasant Grove; Robert Glen (Beau) and Lori Chadwick, Vera Ellen Chadwick, all of American Fork; nine grandchildren; three sisters: Ruth Colledge, Donna Jones, both of Lehi; Jean Brems, American Fork; a brother, Earl (Bud) Turner, American Fork. Preceded in death by a brother, William Fred. Funeral services wereheld Monday, Nov. 28, in the American Fork Sixth Ward. Burial was in the American Fork Cemetery.
