council of the brethren to know w whether hether it was wisdom to go immediately into the north country or tarry here and hereabouts to secure land on grand river ae ac the brethren spoke their minds freely on the subject when I 1 stated to thet the council that I 1 felt impressed trip to tarry and secure all the land near by bv that is not secured between this and far west especially espe cilly on grand river president rigdon concurred and the council voted unanimously to secure the land on grand river and between this und and far west elders kimball and hyde arrived at kirtland from england tuesday president rigdon went last witha with a company and selected some of the best locations in the county and returned with a aa good report of that vicinity and valti valuable able locations which might be secured Fol following lowin 9 awhile in the course of the company I 1 returned to camp amp in robinsons grove and from thence went west to obtain some game to supply our necessities 1 we discovered some antiquities about one mile west of th the camp ecamp consisting of stone mounds apparently erected aa in square piles though somewhat decayed and obliterated lite rated by the weather of miny many years these mounds band s were pro probably babiy erected by the aborigines of the land to secrete treasures we returned with without out game wednesday we all travelled east locating a lands to secure a claim on grove creek and near n ear the city of adam ondi ahman towards evening I 1 accompanied elder rigdon to col wio and the remainder of the eam cpm pany returned to their tents thursday this morning the company returned to grove creek to finish the survey accompanied by president rigdon and col wight and I 1 returned to far west frilay 23 th the company put up the river made some locations in the afternoon they su struck tick their tents and re removed I 1 to col stueday they surveyed lands on the others other side de of the river river opposite adam ondi
