Show AS OLD PIONEER GONE John Hl dley Dies at American Fork Mr John Hindley one of the best known of the oldtims merchants of Utah and who was for a long time in business in this city with H W Nais blit Under thefirm name of Naisbitt < t Hindley and who moved to American Fork many years ago died at that city on Christmas Day of heart disease after a lingering illness of nineteen years Deceased was born October 1st 1320 in Tyldsey Lancashire England He removed to Manchester with his parents when a boy where he served an apprenticeship to painting in all its branches He joined the Mormon Church September 1st 1513 and came to America in the fall of 1819 in the ship Berlin via New Orleans and to Utah in the first company in 1S53 He returned to the States in the following follow-ing spring aud came back in the spring of 1655 bringing with him across the plains a company of Saints con sbting of sixty wagons After that he made several trips across the plains freighting for different dif-ferent merchants He was a prominent man in this city holding several im jiortant offices He fulfilled a short mission in 18723 and was generally beloved be-loved and respected Toe funeraL aervcea will be held in the American Fork Meeting House on Wednesday morning at 1030 oclock |
