Show Assn. of Retired Persons Holds Meeting in Moab The local Moab-Grand County Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (Pending) (Pend-ing) met in the City Council Coun-cil Chambers at the Grand County Court House on August 9th at 7:30 p.m. State Director W. Eugene Reid, from Ogden, was presented to the group. A questions and answer period was held. The appointment of committees was the main function of the evening. The following committee chairmen were selected: Marie Wilkinson, Legis lative Chairman; Genevieve Gene-vieve Hayes, Insurance Chairman; Mil Pimpell, Membership Chairman; Madge Warde, Publicity Chairman; and Orb Wiggle, Wig-gle, Program Chairman. Mr. Reid gave the newly new-ly organized group some very informative information infor-mation and commented on the good work the group is doing in forming form-ing the new chapter. There are 78,000 Senior Citizens over 65, 16,548 are AARP Members and 14 local chapters in Utah. AARP members desire to meet their fellow associates, as-sociates, share common bonds of friendship and fellowship, and pursue similar interests. Equally important is their desire to be useful and needed. Experience has proven that chapter members seek opportunities opportun-ities for meaningful service ser-vice opportunities to contribute their talents, skills, experience, and maturity in service to others and to their communities. com-munities. By so doing, each member realizes a new sense of purpose and dignitv in his dailv life. Therefore, AARP chapters are service-oriented. service-oriented. Because of their steadfast adherence adher-ence to the AARP Motto "To serve and not to be serve d", chapters throughout this nation have met the challenge of community service. The local chapter plans some successful community service projects. A special invitation is extended to the public (55 years and up) to visit the chapter on its next meeting night, September Septem-ber 20th at 7:30 at the usual meeting place at the Grand County Court House, which is to be set aside as Guest Evening.
