Show 8,000 lbs. of beef sell Moabites will have a chance this Saturday to ouy a fine Moab, hand-raised beef, and support the local 4-H youngsters at the same time. In a time when everyone is concerned about the record-high prices, scarcity, and also quality of beef available, this is a great opportunity. Going on the auction block, located at the new recreation field, will be 8 prime beefs which will all average near 1,000 pounds. Naturally the kids want the best price they can get, and certainly will receive a fair price under the gavel of auctioneer, Mil Pimpell. The market price for beef last week on the Montrose market was 55c and that market will be used at its Aug. 18 beef price to allow purchasers pur-chasers to figure their investment. Anything above that market price paid for the 4-H beefs will be income tax deductible. Beefs will be delivered to Blue Mountain Meats for slaughter, and will be delivered back to the Moab purchaser, or he may arrange slaughter himself. him-self. You can't ask for a better deal than that. It's been at least 15 years since 4-H as involved in-volved in this program locally, and the steers raised by Moab kids used to win prizes at the Utah State Fair consistently. That's the goal of 4-H again. A Judge will be provided by Utah State University for . the show and sale here, and the best animal will be shown at the fair this year. The responsibility of raising an animal is fine training and experience for kids, and we applaud those who have worked so hard with the program here. We urge citizens to show their support also. You might even find yourself the proud owner of a winter's supply of the best beef around. |
