These gifts bave been placed in a scholarship endowment together with those made by the former employee, who wishes to remain anonymous. The endowment, which has reached a total of more than S86,000 with the addition of the recent Eli Lilly gift, will provide a number of full·tuition scholarships to students enrolled in the university's College of Science. "We are thrilled with thjs partnership between the university and Eli Lilly in providing excellent educational opportunities ro our students, " said SUU President Steven D. Bennion of the gift. "This company has been fo r many years a respected industry leader in its commitment to learning, and we are most gr:11cful to both Eli Lilly and our local donor for their continued dedication to the cause of learning at SUU ... Eli Lilly and Company is a global, high tcchnolog'y company founded by Colonel Eli Lilly in 1876 in Indianapolis, lndiatia. A 38-year-ol<:l pharmaceutical chemist and a veteran of the Civil War, Colonel Lilly was fru~tr:ll cd by the poorly prepared, often ineffective medicines of his day.
