Show THE CREAMERY SITUATION the reaper has taken an active interest in the question of a creamery for richfield and its tributary territory ever since the present management assur assumed ned control of the paper this paper has bas repeatedly called attention to the fact that richfield is the geographical center of the most important dairying section of the state of utah we have said that even in our undeveloped state the dairying industry has proven the mortgage moat gage lifter for the farmer and that co operative effort in thi this matter smatter would result in gr great vat added prosperity to the people the live element of the community have taken hold of the question and nursed it almost to completion most of the stok has been subscribed and a meeting is to be called soon to perfect the organization it is to be hoped that the farmers and dairymen of this section will carefully consider the importance of an enterprise of this sort to themselves and to this valley if this territory is so valuable to the mutual creamery co officials that it will justify them making a long trip down here with their ability eloquence and banquets it certainly should be worth something to us as an investment of our own the writer is a great admirer of both mr jensen and mr king he admires them for their ability and for their sound business methods since 1908 at which time mr jensen started with a small creamer creamery yat at salt lake city he has made a nice little fortune and today he stands at the head of one of the biggest and most important business institutions in the intermountain west and is surrounded by some of the best business heads in the country but we want to ask what has been the result while this gigantic business institution has been built up in the state metropolis and its promoter was amassing em assing a fortune something like a score of what were one time thriving and creditable community enterprises throughout the state have been driven to the rocks local pay rolls were destroyed and community enterprise ter prise dealt a severe loly body blow while salt lake and her capitalists flourished the reaper does not however blame mr jensen and his associates for this condition except in in one way and that is that the price of butter fat almost invariably changed change d as soon as the creamery had been forced out of business the fault in most cases we are inclined to believe was with the people themselves in several instances the writer happened to be familar with throughout the state the failure of local crea was due to lack of patriotism on the part of the people to their home enterprise we simply appeal to the farmers and business men of this important dairying section to investigate the possibilities of a creamery at home and to think what it means to them before binding themselves to an outside concern it is possible to build up an im immensely imm ensly profitable and creditable institution here and one that will develop our dairying resources to tha fullest extent but we must be united and loyal to home indue try |
