Show CITY SCHOOLS ARE REOPENED After being closed for two weeks on account of the outbreak of the influenza, in-fluenza, the schools of Gunnison were resumed last Monday morning. On the opening day, though, the attendance attend-ance was below normal in many of the grades. The second and third year departments of the High school were about normal, while that of the first year was about fifty per cent normal. In the public schools, ac cording to Superintendent J. E. Met-calf, Met-calf, the opening day showed the attendance at-tendance about 2 5 per cent below normal. Conditions are rapidly improving, however, and it is thought that with the opening of the coming week the schools will have reached the normal stage in attendance. It is now believed that there will be little or no more influenza in this district for the present year. Gunnison, Gun-nison, Centerfield. Mayl'ield. Fayette and Clarion report what, few cases remaining as being in (ho very lightest light-est form with no new cases developing. develop-ing. Axtell schools are still closed on account of srfme five or six families fami-lies having the disease. The afflicted afflict-ed ones, however, are recovering nicely nice-ly and by Monday it. is thought school sessions can be resumed. |
