Show HUMAN BONES UNEARTHED. The workmen at the Denver and Rio Grande depot struck it rich on Tuesday afternoon, that is using rich in the sense of thinness. While the workmen were scraping and grading thereabouts, they turned up a number of bones, and an examination showed that the bones were those of three human beings, the skulls being also found. The bones of one appeared to be those of a man, and were very large-unusually large; while those of another were small, and one would suppose them to be the bones of a woman. The skeletons were fairly preserved, there still being some teeth in the skull of the smallest one referred to. This skull having been washed in a spring hard by, some of the teeth, which were yellow, fell out. One side of the skull was decayed, or looked-as compared with the rest of the bones-as though it had been broken in with a dull instrument. The discovery created a little excitement for a time. The bones are doubtless those of Indians any number of which are found around on these places. Quite a number of Indian bones were unearthed when the grade was being made on the present Utah Central depot grounds, many years ago.-Salt Lake Herald. |
