Show LIVESTOCK 1 BEWARE OF RECIPES. By permission of the manager of the Dcscrct Farmer, I wish to call the attention of the readers of this paper to an article that appeared in the Saturday, February 13th edition, page 9, entitled "Care for the Harness." Har-ness." All that was said about the necessity neces-sity of cleaning and oiling the Harness Har-ness was very true; but the rcccipc for making Harness Oil was a very poor one, because several of the ingredients in-gredients arc injurious to leather, such as Damp Black, Resin Oil and Tar. These all contain acid which will over-heat and destroy leather. The Castor Oil and Fish Oils will both become rancid and gum the harticss. The mutton tallow, -the beeswax and pure Neatsfoot oil arc very good and have been furnished by nature for this purpose. Therefore, as an experienced har-nessmakcr har-nessmakcr of 43 years' experience oiling oil-ing harnesses and all kinds of leather, lea-ther, I warn the farmers from using such injurious ingredients as Lamp Black, Resin, Tar, etc., but will re-. commend1 the Harness and Neatsfoot Oil manufactured by our home factory fac-tory under the name of "Duck-Back." a This oil will penetrate in the leather, the Oil of Mutton Tallow will waterproof; water-proof; the Beeswax forms a firm and glossy surface. If any one docs not agree with me on this", please write me. 0. J. GUSTAVESON, , 3144 So. 9th East, Salt Lake City, Utah. 10 |
