Show Students Receive Awards For Milk Consumption PANGUITCH Panguitch Middle School and High School students are raising their milk glasses in celebration. They were one of 25 first place winners nationwide na-tionwide in "Cartons For Computers," Com-puters," a contest that encouraged teens to increase their school's milk consumption for a chance to win computer equipment. They won $2,000 toward new computers comput-ers for their school. Sponsored by the National Fluid Milk Processor Promotion Board, the Cartons For Computers contest challenged junior high and high schools nationwide to increase their in-school milk consumption con-sumption by at least 10 percent over the period of one month. Computer prizes ranging from $300 to $10,000 were awarded to school with the greatest percentage percent-age increase. The National Cheerleaders Association, a co-sponsor of the contest, offered extra prizes to cheerleading squads who served as program ambassadors in their schools by generating excitement and encouraging participation. As part of their prize, Panguitch Middle and High Schools received re-ceived $1,000 in cheerleading uniforms. Nearly 200 schools participated partici-pated in Cartons For Computers, and Panguitch Schools consumed 7,096 cartons of milk during the month of March, an increase of 341 percent. |
