Show Escalante News By Mariene riaws 826-4859 The 24th of July Pioneer Days Celebration is over. And from all appearances everyone had a good time. We always enjoy having former residents and friends come home for theses special occasions and apparently they still enjoy coming because we had a big, wonderful crowd. The parade was a lot of fun, even if some of us did get hosed down pretty good by the fire truck! I couldn't find the judges to find out which floats took which prize. They must have all gone fishing as soon as they finished fin-ished their job! But it turned out great! The Griffin family gathered from far and near for their annual "shoot out" at the end of the parade. pa-rade. Seems as though, even when they shoot a bunch of them each 24th, they come back in greater numbers the next year. Some of the people I saw along the parade route were: Dale and Helen Jolley and their family, Salt Lake City; Steve and Vivian Collard, Salt Lake; Jim and Janet Spencer, Ruby Griffin, the family of Dennis and Pauline Lott, all from the St. George area; Herb and Norene Allen, also from St. George; Forrest For-rest and Loralee Christian, Helena, He-lena, Montana; Spencer and Jen-nilyn Jen-nilyn Christian, Ephraim; Tony and Marilyn Larson brought their family from California, entered all of them in the parade and won a prize. Elaine S. Bailey brought grandson, Brandon, from Salt Lake City and Renon Peterson, Boulder, joined with them to spend the day in Escalante. I also saw Ken and Roma Clark, Salt Lake; Terri Dowdle and her family fam-ily were with Lynn and Mildred Gates; Dave and Yoland Mc Inelly, Mesa, Ariz.; Ken and Norma Schow, Salt Lake; Bill and Dawn Griffin had Nicki Ex-cell, Ex-cell, her two married daughters and their babies, from South Jordan. Jor-dan. Pat Coughlin was taken to the Panguitch hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was later taken to Salt Lake. |
