Mr. and Mrs. Mayo Sorenson spent the past week in Alamosa, Colorado visiting with their family Jack, Paul and Margaret Sorensen. Mayo was able to get in a, lot of fishing while Mr. and Mrs. Willard Gardner of Clearfield have been visiting at the home of Marge Keller. They also came to pick up their daughter Valayane who has been staying with her grandmother tills summer. Sunday a family dinner was held. there. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Anderson spent the past weekend in Salt Lake City visiting with DeVerl and LaRee Herzog and family. While there they participated in a birthday party for grandson Craig, who was 8 Mrs. Leonard Alder recently entertained 16 neighbors and relatives in honor of her husbands birthday Friday, Sept. 6. A hot dinner was served to the guests. Wanlass and all councilmen present. Also present were City Attorney Louis G. Tervort, Bruce Armstrong from the Office of Economic Development, and Frank Rugert, engineer from Coon, King, and Knowlton. Mr. Armstrong met with the Council to present a $10,000 grant for engineering services from the Four Corners Commission in connection with Manti s recent water emergency. Councilman Ben C. Kjar made a motion, seconded by Councilman Stanley R. Voorhees, that a letter of thanks and appreciation be sent to Governor Rampton for arranging the emergency grant for engineer, ing. All councilmen voted aye. Mr. Armstrong indicated that if the bond election is approved by the electorate, Manti City will receive another $215,000 grant from the Four Corners Commission.
