Show ROOSEVELT MAY LOSE RURAL FREE DELIVERY SERVICE the rural free delivery service established from the roosevelt office last december is in danger ot of being discontinued for the reason that it is not receiving the proper support efforts of the past few f ew months to add extensions to th the e present route and increase the services service from try weekly to dally daily were turned down by the post office department part ment tor for the reason that the s average number of pieces of mail handled daily on the route was not sufficient to warrant daily service had all those living on the route been patronizing it daily service would likely have been given later efforts have been made to extend the route with service as at present three times per week inspector jackson was sent here to make a t thorough gorou h investigation after going avei over the present route and the proposed extensions he reports that from 40 per cent to 60 per cent ot of the people living on the present route ake are not patronizing it and that if such indifference continues the route will be discontinued it took several years ot of effort not only on the part of ane postmaster but by inspector jackson and representative colton to get the route established Ws we were all disappointed that it was made tri weekly instead of dally daily as aa was asked for but it all would support it as they should it will eventually be made a daily route the only requirements of 0 patrons are that they erect and maintain a regulation mall mail box the expense ot of which is jess ess than renting a box at the post office R F D service is one of the most expensive granted by the post office department funds for this purpose are not sufficient to establish all the routes asked for consequently it if our route is discontinued it will bo be years before consideration orL is again given for such guch service la in this district the benefits ot of it F D service are many not only Is mail of aall all classes delivered to your door including registers insured and C 0 D parcels but stamps and envelopes are carried for y your our C convenience the carrier will receive anything you wish to m mail all register your letters I 1 insure asure your parcels supply you with money orders etc congress in consideration ot of rural route patrons when passing the I 1 jaw raising postal rates exempted th them el in so BO far is as pertains to parcels parcels may therefore be mv m on R IF D routes cheaper than at post offices the carrier will keep your box locked it if you supply the lock and will properly sate safe guard your mall mail rural free delivery Is a community benefit and it Is hoped that all especially those living on oil or near the route and its proposed extensions will do what they can to support it not only that it may be maintained but made dally daily rs ES soon eoon ae as possible t J R LAMBERT |
