Show roosevelt business and professional club brings home big prize P bip alteen B P r W organizations of state sate hold their annual convention at newhouse hotel in salt idse city roosevelt club women carry home the only prize awarded at convention venti ven tion Mj competing with entire state approximately women representing eighteen towns and cities throughout utah were present at the annual state convent convention IcIL and election of the national or organization aniza of business and professional clubs for the state of utah six out of eight charter members of 0 the roosevelt club left early on friday morning to attend the convention ven tion the members who made the trip were mrs ora II Il armston mrs afton dirch birch mrs mary ann bracken mrs bits haze I ashton mrs jessie orser and local president mrs violet harrlson harrison the other two members who were unable to attend were mrs bee jordan and dr L miles harris the roosevelt club was introduced to the convention as the baby club of the state being organized only two months ago they took advantage of this fact in putting on their stunt which undoubtedly was the most appropriate stunt pulled off during the convention the roosevelt stunt was the presentation of the baby club to the state president miss eveline dean bean with president violet harrison dressed ina nurses costume carried a real baby on a pillow followed by the th e five other members dressed in costumes singing their original baby song as mrs harrlson harrison laid the baby on the lap of the state president e girls danced around the stage throwing out several hundred neatly printed baby an announcements noun cements announcing noun cing the date of the organization of the club the baby was one of the twins of attorney and mrs R H 11 wallis at the banquet saturday the roosevelt club presented souvenirs of 2 oz bottles of al A l 1 thoney honey neatly labeled roosevelt honey compliments of B P W club roosevelt utah which received much comment during the banquet and judge mary J spurlin of portland oregon in addressing the convention commented upon the value of the advertisement which would be received by the presentation of such a souvenir and thanked the baby club in helping to sweeten the banquet at the last session sunday evening the roosevelt clubs charter ayas was presented by judge spurlin which was accepted by president violet II harrison arrison of the baby club during the same session the roosevelt club was awarded the only prize of the convention a beautiful electric floor lamp which was donated to the state organization by the utah power light company and was presented to the club after hearing the report of the activities tivi ties of the roosevelt club which was so splendidly given in a three minute talk by the clubs secretary mrs ora J harmston it was ag greed aced upon by the judges that the baby club had done as much in the two short months of its organization than many had done in a years time the judges were judge mary J spurlin national representative from portland national vice president elizabeth fitzgerald and state president Evel eveline lne bean |
