Show uvu revi UVU fight song • Whitney Wagner News writer Most UVU students could sing BYU's, Notre Dame's or Michigan State's, but many seem ignorant of their own university's fight song. It seems more than likely that a good number of them aren't even aware that UVU has a fight song. The school's fight song has actually been around for about 25 years. It was written and composed in 1982 by Clyde D. Sandgren, who also wrote BYU's fight song. Even though the song lyrics have gone through many changes as the school has progressed, the tune has always stayed the same. When UVSC became UVU it was no different. A committee made up of students, faculty, staff and community members met to help adapt the song to UVU. When all was said and done, the new UVU fight song was renamed "The Fight Song," which has the following lyrics: Stand up and cheer mighty green, We are the proud Wolverines. Strong in battle till the game is done, Till the victory we have won, won, won. UVUSA offers unlimited opportunities to each student, and my hope is that you will take the opportunity to get involved. Becoming a part of this university has changed the way I look at school and has broadened my educational experience. Through Academic Senate you have the chance to represent the students throughout your school keeping the student voice heard. Working with Student life and activities, you will be part of the biggest dances, best parties, and most elaborate events in the state. This year the school has joined the Great Western Athletic conference, giving the athletes here at UVU the chance to conference championships. UVUSA is proud of that accomplishment, and look forward to supporting its athletes this year. I encourage each and every student to join the Mighty Athletic Wolverine League (the MAWL) this year in supporting the athletic events that will kick of our first year as Utah Valley University. Again, I invite you to get involved by stopping by the Student Government Office (SC105) or calling us at (801) 863-8652 or visit http://www.uvsc.edu/studentgov or UVUSA Facebook Group.
