Show Facts On Mining Where Mining Money Goes I Out of every dollar received from aale of ore by Utah mining com-! panies during the ten years from' 1919-1929 74.74 cents remained wlth- In the state. Of this 74.74 cents, the Industry paid 33.4 cents for wages1 of men engaged in mining, concentrating con-centrating and smelting operations. 43.65 cents went for material, freight, power, etc. and 6.39 cents! for property taxes and administrative administra-tive expenses. The balance of the dollar, 25.26 went for salaries of clerical, tech- nlcal and executive taxes, return of capital and dividends for profitable profit-able enterprise and miscellaneous expenditures. I During this ten years the annual , gross value of ores has exceeded $95,000,000 and was more than $14,-000,000 $14,-000,000 at the low point of the depression, de-pression, adding to the significance of the nonferrous metal mining to the state as a whole, so that the calculation that 47.17 per cent of j the people of Utah are directly dependent de-pendent on the industry Is no surprise. |
