Show RICHMOND DEPARTMENT News From the Lively Town up North V. J Richmond, Feb. 23, 1917 Mrs Jane Cdttle, the wife of Abraham Abra-ham Cottle passed away Sat. morning having suffered a great deal during the winter, with Rheumatism, though the immediate cause was paralytic A stroke and during the last few days ' she was unable to speak. This is one of those very sad deaths, where a young mother leaves a large family some of the children being young and needing a mothers' care. Mrs. Cottle leaves 11 children the youngest being 6 years of age. She also leaves a husband and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Cantwcll and a brother Wm. Smith ' of St. Anthony. Mrs. Cottle was born in Richmond 44 years ago and was the daughter of the late James and Maria Smith. Funeral services were held Tuc. at one P. M. and although at that time a blinding snow storm prevailed pre-vailed a large crowd assembled in the opera house to pay a last tribute of respect to the departed sister With Hishop J. L. McCarrey conducting con-ducting the services the choir sang "Tho Decpning Trials." prayer was offered by J. C. Johnson, Solo by C. J. Stoddard "Sleep Weary One Sleep" The speakers were Aug. S. Schow, David Smith Jr. T. H. Merrill and Bishop McCarrey. A solo entitled "I'll go where you Want me to Go. Dear Lord" was sang by Sansom Webb and a duet "Dry those Tears" was rendered by Anna V. Merrill and LaRuc Merrill. The choir sang "Rest Thee Now from Care and Sorrow" and Wm. Anderson pronounced the benediction. On account ac-count of the snow storm the men only accompanied the remains to the cemetery. cem-etery. Mr. and Mrs. J. I,. Durnham have just-returned from a two weeks visit to Salt Lake City. Miss Clara Plant of Montana and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Card of Canada have been visiting here and have now gone to Park City to visit Mrs. and Mr. Axel Erickson. Mr. J. W. Funk is having the Co-op store fixed up with new hard wood floor plus other reparations and painting. paint-ing. Last Sunday the South ward an-nounced an-nounced that a ward reunion would l V be held March 2 and a committee was V appointed to arrange for the event. Also an old folks' committee was appointed ap-pointed and ward teachers sustained. All the sand and gravel for their new meeting house is hauled and plans for the building are under consideration. con-sideration. Nothing slow about Dish-op Dish-op McCarrey and his ward. Congratulations. Con-gratulations. Bishop C. II. Skidmorc of Willard Ward S. L. C. with his wife and family fam-ily spent Sunday in his home town. Mr. and Mrs. Win. Whittle of Downey made a brief visit amongst their friends here last week. Priesthood day will be observed next Sat. A good attendance is de-iirrd. de-iirrd. Abbic Hendricks the daughter of J. W. and Libbic Hendricks was operated op-erated on for appendicitis by Merrill Jjros., IU' Dr- I'arkimon last week at licr home. She is doing as well as can be expected. Miss Shaw took 17 of her 7th grade pupils to go through the Journal office last Sat. A prize will be awarded award-ed to the pupil giving the best story on how to print a paper. If you wish to become water Master Mas-ter for the coming season send in your bid to the Richmond Irrigation Co. any time between now and March J5th. And now for parties. But first let us correct a mistake from our last social reports. It was Mated that Mr and Mrs. Joe Webb gave a party at Hendricks' Hall but the names of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Raincy should have been added to this item as they entertained with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Webb. Mrs. Lucy Funk was pleasantly surprised by a crowd of Mutual workers work-ers Monday evening each one bringing bring-ing picnic and a merry spirit and a most jolly evening was spent. Those present were Mrs. Funk's old mutual officers and also some of the new ones of the South Ward. The parents and sisters of Mrs. Julia Anderson met at her home Fri. the occasion being her birthday. The social mingling of the family circle made the day a pleasant one to all. Mrs. Julia Anderson who has been an iti"alid from Rheumatism for some time is improving slowly but feels greatly encouraged under the treatment treat-ment of a Chiropractor. Mrs. Wm. Anderson entertained a crowd of 30 girls and boys for her son Geo. Games, music and refreshments refresh-ments made merry the occasion. A picnic surprise was given Mrs. Hrastus F.gan on her birthday last Monday. All present report a fine time. A family party was held at the home of Mrs. N. F. Bullcn last Wed. it being Mr?. Bullcn's birthday and a few houri were most pleasantly pent by tlfe family 'circle. Monday evening the Industrial club met and appointed a new board of directors and the following were sustained. C. L. Funk Lawrence Caine , S. W. Hendricks A. A. Thomas C. I. Stoddard Resolutions were also formed favoring fav-oring the income tax and these were at once sent to Senator J. W. Funk. |
