Mc Arthur said all those who have known brother Cottam for the last 35 years, can bear testimony to his fAithfulnePs and integrity to the Gospel of Christ It has been hia delight to do good, and in hia many duties he has been true and faithful, faith-ful, and also in paying his tithes and offoriuga. He has labored to help build Temples and has received re-ceived blessings therein, not only for himself but for-hia forefathers aud friends who have passed away. He set an example for his children to follow that if they are aa faithful faith-ful as he has been will land them safe in the presence of God, where their father has preceeded them. President David H. Cannon said he had known Father Cottam ever since he joined the Church in Eng-laud, Eng-laud, his native land, and he, has been very faithful in all his labors. He has been baptized for many of his relatives ud friends who have passed away, and it has been his delight to work in the temple. Spoke of his integrity in performing perform-ing every duty that ha waa called upon to perform. He has many friends who will greet him on the other side of the vail. Gave very encouraging advice to tho family to follow in tho 'footsteps of their father and mother, who have both laid their bodie down in peace, and he prayed God to bices the family of Father Cottam. Elder Richard JUoms related some incidents in the life of brother broth-er Cottam that would be a credit to all to follow. Councilor E. B. Snow said he too knew of the good useful life that Father Cottam had lived. His life hae been spent in doing gocd continually and prayed God to bleed his family whom he had left behiud. Bishop Andrus said it was his delight to speak of the acts of Father Cot tans life as he has lived in the hearts of the people, and we all know that his life has been spent in doing ood. Choir sang "Farewell all earthly earth-ly honors." Thomas Cottam was borm at West Bradford, England, October 20, 1820. He Bailed from Liverpool Liver-pool on the ship Hope, on the 5th day of February, 1842; arrived at Nauvoo on tho 13th day of April, 18i2; arrived in Salt Lako City on the 13th day of September 1852 and at Si George in December 1802. He .died at St. George on tho 10 day of November, 1896, in his quiet peaceful home where he spent the last years of his life, surrounded by a largo portion of hia family, and also many friends. |
