Because of this solid Democratic vote our present Democratic UJS. Representatives and Senator were elected to their respective offices, o Had Carbon County had a 0 divided vote, these officers would have been defeated. Therefore, we of Carbon County should have good reason to expect some effort on the part of our representatives in Congress, toward our welfare; concern for our economic plight. Apparently our elected representatives believe Carbon County is "safe" and they can expect our Democratic majority to perpetuate them in office year after year, and if an effort is to be made for the betterment of any district, it should be somewhere where additional votes for them can be gained. Carbon County . 50-5- "SAFE". is We are a coal producing area, and any form of power, if not derived from coal means less work for our coal miners.. So it is a direct slap in the face of our coal industry when our Democratic U.S. Congressmen were ABSENT or Voted for such projects as the Burns Creek Power Project and the Hanford, Washington, Atomic steam plant. Only Senator Bennett voted for Carbon County's best interests. Again, when' we needed help in our Gooseberry fight to keep our water in Carbon County, our representatives in Washington were absent, and had it not been for the effort of the State of California's representative, we would have lost the fight, and Carbon County water would have gone to Sanpete County. Carbon County is "SAFE" so pur repre- sentatives "made hay" for additional Democratic votes in Sanpete County. " Carbon County has a system and we are paying dearly for it. To have efficient government at County, State and National levels, it is extremely important to have a two party system where an honest, patriotic opposition sharpens the, "One-Party- effort of all elected officers. Do you want increased efficiency in our County, State and Nation? Then do away with this "One Party" set-uVote intelligently! p.
