there was a good attendance at all the meetings nothing but routine business characterized the primaries except in the second where the delegation was instructed to present the came of john C graham for member of the legislature WARD the second ward primary met in the room of the franklin school house at 8 committeeman graham called the meeting to order and nomi bated david beebe chairman pro tern who was eksted A C sorensen was elected secretary the following twelve delegates and six alternates were then elected delegates horace beebe thomas john ebward EJ Ward W R IL herman Knude eo mrs W H monahan E D boren mrs robert till john C graham charles demoisy thomas vincent and mrs E S hinea alternates mrs charles demoisy james clovo alma daft vis ann jones miss sadie graham and robert till john C graham and mra R S hines were elected committeemen commit temen charles demoisy then sprang a sort of a surprise on the primary he said that on the question which he was about to present he had not consulted with other members of the ward but it had occurred to him that the second ward had about as good legislative timber as other wards and moved that the delegation be instructed to present the name of john C graham for member of the legislature mr graham had been a worker in the party who had not sought for office and was the kind of man the people wanted this year joseph chamberla Chamber lm seconded the domination and stated that while utah county bad been betrayed in the capital contest whatever there was to be cecur cd for utah county he felt mr graham thomas john spoke to the zealous work done by mr graham for the party and believed his services should be recognized the motion to instruct was then put and carried mr graham being called for said that it was true that he had never sought for public office while he was proud of the confidence hia ward had reposed in him he would have no regrets if ho did not receive the nomination if the convention should see fit to give it to him he knew no reason he could not become a candidate mr graham promised that if nominated and elected he would not forget tho countes coun tys interests as all but three or four of the delegation from utah county to the constitutional convention had done he deprecated the action of the leader of that delegation in the capital contest and did not see how people here could well vote for him now for supreme judge thomas john and mrs W H monahan were elected on the decoration committee and mrs R S bines and minnie startup on the reception committee after giving notice of the trip to paydon tho meeting adjourned THIRD WARD J M jensen waa elected chairman mrs bessie cragan was elected secretary the election of twenty one delegates to the county convention was then proceeded with and the following were elected myron tanner D 0 waid andrew scott ephraim homer J M jensen abram halladay edward vincent W S holdaway mrs beamer C H Blome F D alexander mrs kenward heber hardy homer called attention to a republican rally to be held in paydon monday evening next and desired as many as possible to attend several expressed themselves in favor of as many as possible going over
