Visitors can also use electronic signatures to sign current petitions for or against specifically proposed ordinances coming before the Planning or County Commissioners. The web site can be accessed by logging onto <www.Ogden-Valley.blogspot.com> It states that its purpose is to provide a venue, “. . . intended to serve as a non-partisan public community forum providing citizens of Ogden Valley a cyber focal point within which to discuss, debate, and rant about any and all local governmental policies, issues, and events in and around Huntsville, Eden, Liberty, and Ogden Canyon.” Another group recently organized in reaction to the proposed Sage Glen subdivision in Liberty, a proposed master planned community of 84 lots situated on 341.1 acres to be built out in 5 phases. After a July 19 cottage meeting held by community members living in Liberty, representatives for the group say they are now interested in joining forces with the VCRD who they have been in recent contact with. The Sage Glen development has been tabled twice by the Ogden Valley Township Planning Commission after hearing arguments for and against the development. At their July 25th meeting, planning commissioners asked for a letter of confirmation from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources substantiating that they would be willing to adopt a little over 100 acres within the development as a wildlife protection area. Valley Citizens for Responsible Development (VCRD) VALLEY ZONING ISSUES - NEW ORDINANCES – TAX INCREASES TAX INCREASES –IRRESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT Ogden Valley Pathways (OVP) is a not-for-profit organization on a mission to create a network of non-motorized pathways in the Valley. The Pathways mission proposes that we all should be able use pathways to get to places or to just wander around and take a brief respite from all the motors in our lives. Our community has been enthusiastic and generous in support of this purpose. We have three big things to do before the snow flies. Quite soon we will see the completion of two more sections of the Pineview Loop Trail—from Eden to Old Highway, and from Huntsville to the U.S. Forest Service Spring Creek parking area. This will complete 49% of the Eden-Huntsville trail and leaves us with 3.89 miles to go. As you use these trails this fall, remember to thank the committed OVP volunteers who worked with the Forest Service to capture the RAMP grant that funded the pathway and who then were able to get them built. You should also thank State Representative Gage Froerer who convinced his colleagues at the legislature to grant Pathways $20,000 to start on the next section (Old Highway to Stringtown Road). Second, and equally exciting, will be our first annual Ogden Valley Pathways Celebration. Every year we are going to throw a Pathways Celebration to attract Pathway supporters and the money needed to thread pathways and trails into the fabric of our community and lifestyles. Join us for our Celebration at Snowbasin on September 15 to walk, hike, sightsee, bird watch, bike, or ride your horse. Trail activities scheduled from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., with food, drink, and an auction and raffle occurring at Needles Lodge from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. You can buy tickets by calling (801) 620-1021, or at the door for an additional $5.00. Ticket price includes food, drink, gondola rides, and a donation to OVP. Learn how to help, or just more at about the organized trail activities we have planned, by visiting <www.ovpathways.org> Better yet, bring all your friends for a fun day while supporting a great cause. Thirdly OVP is hiring an executive director to help build Ogden Valley Pathways into the effective organization we will need to construct the 32 pathways and trails envisioned in the county’s general plan for the Ogden Valley. If you are interested in a job where the rewards are more along the lines of making friends, using your talents, and being a local hero . . . rather than making much money, check out the job description at <www.ovpathways.org> Pathways continues to hold board meetings every 4th Wednesday at 6:30 in the Huntsville Library. We always welcome people who want to get involved. OPPOSITION cont. from page 1 TAX INCREASES –IRRESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT Ogden Valley Pathways Update |
