Show 1 To the Front. This morning four companies of ! the 14th infantry, under command of Major Burke, leave Camp Douglas for tho Black Hills, under telegraphic orders received yesterday to report to General Crook. The companits are: B. Captain Kenuinglon; C, Major Burke; F, Captain To' ey, and I, Lieutenant Calhoun. They will go by rail to Medicine Bow, and then proceed across the country to Fort Fetterman. Farther than this it is not known where they will go, but from our telegraphic dispatches it is presumed thai they will immediately immedi-ately join General Crook, in answer to hil call for iufantry. Some ol the officers who go have had a tasto of Indian fighting, but it will be new business to others. We wish them success, and hope to see them all back in their comfortable quarters at Douglas ore many weeks. |
