The substitute reported from the senate finance committee for the so called silver bill passed by the house on tho 15th instant, consists of the first two sections sec-tions of the finance committee's pending bill and the last two of the house bill. It in brief provides for the coinage of silver dollars of 412 8 lOths grains of standard silver, for issuing thorn and subsidiary coins in fichange for an equal amount of United States notes to be permanently retired. Silver bullion needed for this purpose is to be purchased in amounts not exceeding $1,000,000 at one time, and the trade dollar ia abolished. |
